Books to love-Deployable Structures

26Mar10

Today I finally had to return the book Deployable Structures. (big sigh)

The book is made up of the lecture notes for a course in deployable structures offered by CISM (International Centre for Mechanical Sciences). It’s been an amazing book that has inspired me to be so much smarter. It really gets me thinking about engineering and the precision with which research is carried out. This is not to say that architecture is not a field for precise research methods, just that I’m not (yet) one of them.

And this love fest so far has not even touched on the actual content of the book. Pantographs, biomimicry, universal joints…those are a few of the keywords that I latched onto in my research.

If anyone out there has an extra $170 dollars around for an addition to their library, I’d recommend it.
